Efficient and energetic, Maria did not limit herself to the studies at the Frederic Pausch studio. Maria completed her studies in 1938 with honours. In Krakow she was an active participant of the Ukrainian Art group “Zarevo”. This group was later joined by Ukrainian artists Hryhoriy Kruk, Natalya Milyan, Deoniziy Ivantsev, Nestor Kysilevskiy, Mykhaylo Kmit, Andriy Nakonechniy, Mykhaylo Zoriy, Dem’yan Hornyatkevych, Osyp Kasarab, Yaroslav Lukavetskiy, Volodymyr Prodan, Bohdan Stebelskiy, Yaroslav Krasnevych, Ostap Porayko, Petro Hryhoriychuk, Mykhaylo Chereshnyovskiy, Mykola Kmit.
