The new work of Dr Halyna Stelmashchuk is dedicated to the Ukrainian artist Mika Harasowka Daczyszyn. She was a member of the wide circle of Ukrainian artists active in the United States and Canada following a forced emmigration. The artist was born in 1911 in Old Sambir in the Lviv region. She graduated from the Art Academy of Krakow, and after passing through a refugee camp in Aschaffenburg (Germany) she moved to Chicago (USA) in 1949. She became an active member of the Association of Ukrainian Artists of America. Her artistic production comprises of over 1000 works and over 25 solo exhibitions as well as yearly group exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Italy and France. In her homeland she found recognition after the proclamation of the Independence of Ukraine.
