Annual Report. PATRIARCHAL CURIA UGCC 2019
32 Setting a special study-guide for the UGCC Catechism "Christ our Pascha" has been another successful and up-to-date program. The Catechism of the UGCC "Christ our Pasсha" was published in 2011 and became a unifying factor for the Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church that allowed the Church to verbalize its Eastern Christian identity and intensify its evangelization efforts ( To access the UGCC Catechism in English please follow the link below: ht tp:/ /catechism.royaldoors.net/catechism/ ) . The Catechism of the UGCC has been translated into Russian, Portuguese, English and German. There is a great need now for the Church to evangelize the children and adults using modern means of communication such as short videos, online courses and curriculum which are easily accessible on the internet. The Catechetical Com- mission of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC has been developing online tools for the study of the catechism of the UGCC which will benefit adults and youth for the Church with over 5 million faithful in Ukraine. The Commission has been developing 4 online study courses including supplemental materials of the UGCC Catechism on scripture, dogmatic, liturgical and moral subjects. Each of four study courses will consist of 30 themes (united in 5 thematic blocks). Each theme will include an instructional video (3-5 min) with commentaries by experts in the respected theme combined with infographics and interactive presentations, main thesis of the theme, additional literature and self-evaluation questions. "We successfully finished the first block of online-study course on moral theology in 2019. By the end of 2020 we plan to finish all four online-study courses. Christian morality is often seen as a code of norms and prohibitions, but this is not the case: Christian morality is our life in Christ and Christ’s permission to live in us. This is the orientation of man to the god- likeness, which man shows by his actions. This course is about spirituality and mo- rality, Christian marriage and bioethical issues, relations between the state and the Church, as well as responsibility for the environment", said Nazar Duda, vice-deputy of the Patriarchal Catechetical Commission. Cateches i s and Cathol i c educat ion mini st r y Catechetical commission has prepared new catechetical re- source materials for different age groups: for the students of 1-8 grade and 9-11 grade. The updated program for grades 1-8 contains many interactive assignments for students. The program for the students of 9-11 grade will be based on the new Catechism of UGCC for Youth "We follow Christ", which was presented to the Bishops of the Permanent Synod of UGCC for approval and will be ready for publishing in 2020-2021. It is an exciting project which, we truly hope, will help the youth in their journey of faith.
