Annual Report. PATRIARCHAL CURIA UGCC 2019
43 The MAPA innovative formational youth ministry project for priests contributed to the formation of a network of active young priests in the UGCC willing to develop youth apostolate by using modern approaches and not forgetting that a priest should embody the living Christ. This community of priests helps them to share experience and interact with each other, inspiring for growth and development in the youth ministry. "We are planning to expand our formational efforts by invit- ing to our program lay youth leaders and enhancing youth ministry mentorship programs in UGCC eparchies", stated Rev. Rostyslav Pendyuk. "It is no longer merely a question of ‘using’ instruments of communication, but of living in a highly digitalized culture that has had a profound impact on ideas of time and space, on our self-understanding, our understanding of others and the world, and our ability to communicate, learn, be informed and enter into relationship with others" (Chritus Vivit, 86). Pope Francis points out the responsibility of Catholics and all advocates of the common good toward the hearts and minds of the so-called digital natives. Dyvensvit Youth web-portal (https://dyvensvit.org ) has been an effective communication platform for a dialogue with the youth who are immersed in the network. Dyvensvit youth web-portal of the UGCC Youth Commission has been a leading religious internet resource in Ukraine as well as a unified forum for young people with over 3 million visitors. Mod- ern media communication channels have opened new opportunities for evangelization of those who are inside and outside of the Church and the Commission has been trying to seize this opportunity by reaching out to the youth. The youth web-portal has been launched eight years ago, and we have seen a constant growth of our visitors, especially during the time of pandemic in the first quarter of 2020 where people flock to social media religious content for spiritual consolation and support. Daily meditations on the Holy Scripture has been a great success with the most number of visitors for the year — 131 000 visitors, proving that youth is thirsty for the living Christ. Dyvensvit staff also produced short videos on evangelization topics which are popular among the youth. Dyvensvit’s content is actively shared on Facebook and Instagram. We understand that the web-portal cannot replace real life relationships, so view it as a good addition to our other outreach programs such as Wind of Hope Festival, MAPA forma- tion program and others. We hope we will be able to reach out also to non-believers and those searching for God in their lives.
