71 The Commission on Personnel Development 40 scholarships for studies abroad (10 for Ph.D. and 30 for license degrees) granted by our donors make an important contribution to the professional development of the UGCC clergy, religious and lay people who will lay the foundation for competent future leadership of our Church The UGCC Commission on Personnel Development organizes and conducts a process of selection of can- didates (seminarians and laypersons who either work for or plan to work in Church institutions) to be pre- sented to donor organizations for scholarships to study abroad. The Ukrainian Greek-Catholic Church runs a Catho- lic University and 6 seminaries in Ukraine with a total number of 737 seminarians. The Commission closely co - ordinates its work with the HR offices of our eparchies and exarchates in order to develop a map of needs for them. In 2019, the Commission on Personnel Development provided 40 scholarships for studies abroad . The Congregation for Eastern Churches granted 21 scholarships, Renovabis — 12, USCCB — 2, other donors (Collegium Orientale, Eichstätt) — 5. Among these, 10 scholar- ships were offered for Ph.D studies and 30 for licentiate programs . The scholarships were granted to pursue education in the following areas of studies: moral theology (6), dogmatic theology (4), general theology (4), psychology (4), canon law (3), church history (3), Bible studies (3), pastoral theology (3), missiology (2), social communication (2), fundamental theology (2), philosophy (1), liturgical theology (1), church social teaching (1), and systemat- ic theology (1). The students pursued their studies at the following uni- versities in Europe: Alfonsianum Academy, Rome; Catholic University Eichstätt-Ingolstadt, Eichstätt, Germany; Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome; Pontif- ical Biblicum Institute, Rome; Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome; Pontifical Lateran University, Rome; Pontifical Salesian University, Rome; Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome; Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas "Angelicum", Rome; Pontifical University Urbaniana, Rome; University of Tilburg, Tilburg, Netherlands; St. Mary University, London, Great Britain.
